You, Me and the Movies by Fiona Collins - Review

Two People. Ten classic movies. A love story you'll never forget.

I'm actually nervous to write this review because i couldn't pick out any flaws in this book, i loved it THAT much and i want to do the book justice with this review!

The book starts in present day, Arden is visiting a friend at hospital and comes across another patient in the ward, someone she never thought she would see again, someone she loved nearly 30 years ago at university.. Mac, a lecturer at the same university when she was a student.

Arden can't forget that she saw Mac at the hospital and decides to visit him. Mac has been in an accident that has left him unable to speak, but, he manages to get out a few movie references that only Arden will understand and those references throw her back into the past.

Throughout the book you go from past to present, which i really loved. Each past chapter is featured around the movies Mac and Arden watched together through the duration of their affair. This book is great if you love movies because there are many movies mentioned, i loved how Fiona inserted so many moments from different movies into normal sentences and situations.

The present day chapters tell you where Arden is now and what has happened in her life since her university days. Past and present Arden differ, but as the book goes along the old Arden starts to show up again.

Not only did i love the whole idea of the plot line, as an aspiring writer i was in awe of Fiona's writing. I was hooked instantly at the clever and witty writing used in this book, so descriptive i could imagine the smallest details. That's why i have found it so hard to criticize this book, Fiona left nothing out. The story flowed extremely well and by the end of the book i felt satisfied and didn't have the normal thoughts of 'oh, i wish the author had done this instead.' (New favourite author alert!)

This book also made me laugh a few times, Arden is definitely my favourite character out of this book but the secondary characters were also great.

You, me and the movies is an ideal book for anyone who is a sucker for romance novels, but i can assure you, this book is one of a kind! This love story is like no other i have read and will stay with me.

I could go on and on about this book but all i can say is, as a big bookworm, this book is a gem and it's pieces of work like this that remind me why i love reading so much.
